At Durand Church we gather together to be inwardly renewed with God’s Love, so we can be Love in the community. The community of faith that calls Durand Church home comes from Durand, Davis, Pecatonica, Rockford, Rockton, Roscoe, Loves Park, Brodhead, WI, in between and beyond.
Youth Ministry: Our youth “Ignite” (Junior and Senior High School kids) gather on Sunday evenings for Bible study and activities at 5-6:30 pm every other Sunday.
Confirmation is a yearlong program of journey together toward their first profession of their intent to live as faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. Confirmation is an opportunity to respond to the grace of God available to us, as acknowledged in baptism, and to promise to live as a person of faith. Confirmation is not a sacrament in The United Methodist Church, but it is an important step in our spiritual journeys.
Children’s ministry : Our children have a fabulous home to learn about Jesus and his plan for their life! At 9:30 a.m. 10:30 a. m. We have exciting Bible study and activities for each age group. Sunday School Rally Day on the second Sunday in September. Classes are for 3 years old through 6th graders.
The 9:30 through 10:30 am Sunday School welcomes children into our Sunday School classes. We have a place for you! Please come join us!
Adult Education Ministry: Sunday School isn’t just for children! Sunday School classes make a big church small for all ages. Classes open up God’s Word for meaningful discussion and application. Classes organize the church to do the ministry of the church. Durand encourages every member to get involved in a class where they can build relationships, grow through Bible study, and serve with others. If you are not in a class, you are not experiencing all that Durand Church has to offer, and you are probably not becoming all you can be for God!
Bible Classes are available for all age groups, men, women, singles and couples. Contact the office (815-248-2461) for more information about finding and connecting with the right class for you at Durand. Wednesday Bible Studies at 10 am in Fall and GTGT Study Group (Women’s Fellowship) on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 am
Pastoral Care is Christian love in action by clergy and laity. It is an expression of God’s love for people. The goal of our Pastoral Care is caring, consolation and compassion in order to meet the needs of God’s people (members and non-members). This is done by partnering in the process of healing (physically, mentally and spiritually) as they journey into wholeness through a relationship with Christ, the power of the Holy Spirit, fellowship with others, counsel and a commitment to growth. We recognize that our pastor cannot do this job alone, so a team of Retired Clergy and lay volunteers collaborate. If you would like pastoral care, please contact Pastor Nicole at PastorNicoledumc@gmail.com
Prayer Ministry: Our goal is to be a committed praying church and we seek to accomplish this through teaching and training in prayer, the practice of prayer in small groups, corporate prayer, healing prayer services, modeling prayer from our pulpit as well as other teaching venues we offer multiple opportunities to participate in the Prayer Ministry. Prayer ministry group meets every Wednesday mornings at 9:30 am to pray for people and nations.
According to James 5 those who are ill should “call for the elders of the church to pray over him.” All who need healing: physical, emotional, relational or spiritual are invited to attend scheduled services or request a personal time of prayer. Participants are anointed with oil and prayed for by our church leadership. Regularly scheduled services are on the Fifth Sundays.
